MEET HUNTER — “I had already attempted twice to take my own life but failed. Most nights I would end up crying myself to sleep, asking God to take me from this place and relieve me of my pain. A friend told me about SOCO so I thought I might try it out. As I was driving to the church, I was already contemplating my next suicide attempt as I expected to be shunned like ever other church did to me. As I stepped out of my car and walked up the sidewalk, I was greeted by a sign-holder who said, "How are you doing this morning?" I never realized how badly I wanted someone to ask me that until I actually heard those words. From that point on, it all just took off. I joined a community group in the summer where I met lots of people who have completely accepted me with open arms. I even attended a NEXT Class in August and immediately joined the Connect Tent team so I can make sure that others experience what I did my first time here. While I still deal with depression and suicidal thoughts I now know that I have a loving family of brothers and sisters in Christ that I can get ahold of at any point I need them. SOCO Church saved my life, my soul, and my spirit. It's literally as Psalm 40:2 says, "He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and the mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand." #THISISUS #SOCOFAM
